The reasons of errors are the following

1) Sometime twitter go down

2) The url is incorrect (The username setting up on ptwix is wrong)

3) You use a Proxy server, than php couldn’t request a url.

I suggest you the direct testing of url for exlude twitter server errors or wrong username

Example url: http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/username.xml?count=20

$myptwixInstance->useCurl(false);

Remember that with curl disabled ptwix can’t show  the friend timeline but only user timeline and search result. You also disable curl in as/PtwiX_reader.php file.
